"Good photographers start with perceptive minds rather than merely perceptive eyes". -- david yanold

"photojournalism is not about pictures". (Schuneman,1972,p 9495). for more, photojournalist are reporters and they must gather information and use words just like other reporters, most often these words found to the photos in what the profession must often called, cut lines (another term of caption).

cut lines are necessary because as good as compelling as a picture be, it does not explain itself. thats why photojournalist must include a pen and notebook an essential part of their equipment and must know what other reporters know about gathering information.

HOW TECHNOLOGY HAS CHANGED PHOTOJOURNALISM?

technology has greatly change the face of photojournalism. news can travel the entire globe in just a few minutes. with the advent of videophones, internet and terrific printing technology of photojournalism has become extremely popular.

A WORD ABOUT ACCURACY:

The photojournalist commitment to provide accurate information is just as strong as that of any other journalist. that's why photojournalist take great care to get accurate information. they include in their photos just as other reporters do, photojournalist list check the spelling of all names and places. they quoted people accurately using the words they say and the meaning they want to convey. and they do not trust their memory use a notebook to record information about their photo while they are still on scene.

Weinberg(1986) point out that, "photojournalism as a profession is serious job and demand attention and respect".p.42. After all, it is the photographs accompanying the news that truly help us undergo whats going on in the world. the profession of photojournalism requires a lot of patients, understanding and skill on the photojournalist should be appreciated accordingly.
